Pathmark Stores, Inc.

Pathmark was founded in 1968 and operates stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The company’s goal provides a “Path” for easy, one stop shopping, and be the “Mark” of one of the most successful supermarket companies in the country. Pathmark has always been a pioneer in the supermarket industry, with the opening of “Supercenter” stores and operating 24-hour stores. They were also one of the first to install scanning checkout registers.

Pathmark’s progressive operations has led them to be on the forefront of energy saving strategies including energy efficient lighting, high efficiency refrigeration systems and a modern, centralized energy management system. RLE Industries’ lighting has been specified for many years, providing Pathmark with energy efficient lighting including QL induction systems, T8 and T5 technologies. Custom split circuit wiring allows for optimal energy control which operates in conjunction with the store’s energy management system.
 
Realizing the need to reduce its energy use, Pathmark Stores Inc. worked with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New Jersey Smart Start Programs to meet its goals of reducing energy consumption and protecting the environment. This was accomplished with RLE Industries through participation in several programs including the Commercial/Industrial Performance Program the environment, that’s what partnerships are all about.

Pathmark operates 142 supermarkets in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The lighting projects that RLE Industries has installed save significant energy, enhances lighting controls, and improves color rendering and product appearance. It’s a winning formula with proven success.
